organic produce

2008-11-21 08:07:08

Did anyone watch 20/20 a couple of weeks ago? They had a segment on about
organic produce. Apparently, they tested both the organic and regular
produce and found that neither had pesticide residue. However, they tested
both for ecoli and the organic stuff tested twice as high. The higher count
is caused by the use of manure, rather then using fertilizer. They also
spoke with a representative from the organic growers assoc., and she stated
that organic food does not have more nutritional value. Apparently, some
people believe it does. So, the moral of their story was that you pay
twice as much for the organic, and it really isn't any better for you. It
actually might be worse, especially if it isn't washed well. I was quite
suprised that they did not find pesticide residue on any of the regular
produce.

Issues at the base of my head...

2008-11-20 20:12:09

I would love to know why I seem to be getting alot of breakage at the
base of my head. Whenever I get my hair retightened, it never seems to
be a clean look at my scalp. It is just frizzywith a bunch of hairs
that are not long enough to be caught up in the lock. This is
throughout the scalp. I also have slippage issues around the base of
my head in the front. What can I do? My consultant said it may be how
I am washing it. Yet, I am followinfg the instructions about braiding
and banding. I have even stopped using my fingers to wash my scalp in
the one direction. I just stick my head under the water and let the
water run through my hair so I can be even more gentle with my hair
that is near the base. Granted, I do not feel my hair is getting "my
type" of clean by washing it this way but I don't know what else to
do. Please help.

Yeast?

2008-11-19 16:56:07

List,
I think that my son has yeast issues; however, my doctor won't
prescribe nystatin unless he knows that my son has a yeast problem ,
but he does not have the telltale signs such as white spots on his
mouth etc. He does have little flesh colored bumps on his face back
and stomach that seem to come and go. He also scratches himself and
his head. My son has had 12 courses of antibiotics over his two
years of life. I think that it is definitely likely that he has
yeast.
I had yeast infections when both of my children were born AND I have
suffered with yeast infections most of my pubescent life. I also
have diabetes in my family. The problem is that Dr. Megson will not
prescribe anyting until my son's stool analysis comes back. I
understand the rationale, but I need to feed my son in the meantime
and I think (hope) that his yeast problems are causing his
sensitivities.

Re: Cheryl and the tongs

2008-11-19 08:41:53

Okay, thanks all! I am so releived. I am very mobile and active now and
have no difficulty in that department, so I will leave the tongs at
home! My parents and I had quite the time with the subject of tongs. I
think we must have incorporated the word "tongs" in just about every
other sentence in our conversations the other weekend.
whew! (one less thing to worry about and to pack!)
Cheryl

Okay.. I think I'm ready.... (and about those tongs)

2008-11-19 02:15:30

Same at 410 with a very big rear. I had a stretch and sometimes it hurt
my shoulder but I never heard of tongs and my big fear was what if I
couldn't reach. I honestly never knew there were others who had a reach
problem too and was too embarrassed ever to tell anyone. I feared not
being able to reach more than I feared going on oxygen which I did.
Thank goodness I always could. W
